Well, I hate to do it, but I have to give a recap on the sewer project. Ended up renting a trackhoe from Nations Rent. The Bobcat was a bit worn, but served its purpose. I had to be careful due to the fact I was digging around my water line and a gas line. No damage done, I can happily report. It took most of the morning to dig the trench, due to the hard dirt and my caution about the water and gas, but the trench was finally dug and I was laying pipe first thing after lunch.
The old pipe was 4" clay (inner diameter) and was laid in 6' lengths, where it was coupled together. At each coupling, the tree roots had grown into the pipe, creating a fairly solid plug. No wonder we were having issues!! I left the old pipe in the ground and laid the new PVC beside it. A good friend, Tim Albertson, came over around 5 to lend a hand, which I really appreciated. Keep in mind that the temperature was around 105 degrees F outside! Lots of Gatorade.
Tim assisted in watering the dirt as I backfilled to discourage any dust and to help the compaction of the soil. Managed to complete the job in a day! The only down side is that the little grass I did have in the front is done tore up! But I would rather plant some grass then have to deal with a clogging sewer line every couple of weeks.

You are amazing. I really admire people like you who just dive into projects like that and just do it. And...to top it off, it's fixed when you are all done! Wow.
