Expeditor's Chinese New Year Party

Had a great time at the Chinese New Year's Party. Since this is the year of the dog, anyone who was born in the 'dog' year had to stand to be recognized. Of course, that is me (1970)...so I had to put up with my share of the 'dog' jokes.

It was nice to chat with some old friends and also meet some new people. The dinner was good (Chinese food...go figure) and I ate a respectable amount. Of course, the definition of respectable is all perspective.

Expeditors gave away a number of nice prizes during the dinner. One of my co-workers won a beautiful 60 GB IPOD. Unfortunately, our corporate policy limits gifts to $150 so she is having to relinquish it. Bummer for her!

At the end of the dinner, a Chinese troup performed a dragon dance. They had drums and cymbals and two different dragons dancing about. It was pretty neat. At the end, it is traditional to feed the dragon some lettuce on a stick. My boss, Laura, was selected out of the crowd to hold the stick. I had a good laugh about it.

We ended up getting out of there around 9 PM and headed back for Longview. I drove and managed to get us back to Longview right at 11 PM. Headed home and hit the rack about 11:30.
